Abstract: PURPOSE: A process of preparing the title resin having a foaming agent content of 3 to 4% such as pentane and butadiene regulated by VOCs (volatile organic materials) and restricted in its using amount, imposing almost no restrictions on product suitability and having excellent heat stability is provided, which produces highly-expandable styrene resin capable of being used for an interior material for building or packing material. CONSTITUTION: The highly-expandable styrene resin is prepared by a process consisting of: dispersing 0.5 to 1.0 parts by weight of glyceryl tristearate, 0.05 to 0.5 parts by weight of an ethylenevinylacetate-alcohol copolymer, 0.1 to 1.0 parts by weight of hexabromocyclododecane, 0.05 to 0.5 parts by of dicumylperoxide in 100 parts by weight of a styrene based monomer selected from the group consisting of styrene, acrylonitrile, α-methylstyrene and mixtures thereof; adding less than 4.0% by weight of a volatile organic compound of formula: CnH2n+2 when the polymerization rate attains 30 to 50% ; and adding 0.01 to 0.1 parts by weight of zinc stearate after manufacturing expandable styrene resin particles.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A manufacturing method for a high-foaming styrenic resin particle is provided to promote the foaming while reducing contents of a foaming agent and to have an excellent heat-stability almost not generating a lumping in a high-temperature and high-pressure foaming. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method for a high-foaming styrenic resin particle uses small amount of foaming agents having a step of an infiltration at 110 through 120 degrees celsius after hydrocarbon gas of 3 to 4 Wt.% as the foaming agent when a polymerization is processed about 50% by suspension-polymerizing a previously dispersed Glyceryl tristearate, Ethylene vinyl acetate-alcohol copolymer and Zinc-stearate in styrenic monomer. The manufactured foaming styrenic resin particles are volatile organic compounds (VOCs) having low contents of foaming agents of a regulated pentane and an affinity to the environment, and have an excellent foaming rate up to 70 times at the maximum, heat-stability and fast forming cycle-time. Thereby, it is expected a variety of application range hereafter.

CONSTITUTION: The method comprises adding polydimethylsiloxane-polyoxyethylene copolymer when suspension polymerizing a styrene monomer. The polydimethylsiloxane-polyoxyethylene copolymer is added as a solution with sulfonic acid ammonium sulfate and styrene monomer. A dispersion step dissolves Glyceryl tristearate (GTS) of 0.05 to 1.0 phr and Ethylene vinyl acetate-alcohol copolymer (EVA-Copolymer) of 0.01 to 0.05 phr in styrenic monomer. Tertiary dodecyl mercaptane (TDDM) of 0.05 to 0.5 phr is gradually added until a suspension rate is reached to 30 to 50% of the suspension reactant from a starting point of the reaction. A foaming agent is added at the point of that the suspension rate is 30 to 50%. And Zinc-stearate (Zn-St) of 0.01 to 0.5 phr is added after manufacturing the foaming styrenic resin particle.
