An elongation factor-1 alpha promoter of a silk worm is provided to increase the expression of foreign gene and massively produce recombinant protein. An elongation factor-1 alpha gene sequence of the sequence number 1 comprises gene area and promoter of the elongation factor-1 alpha gene. A cDNA sequence of elongation factor-1 alpha gene is denoted the sequence 2. The amino acid sequence denoted by the sequence number 3 is deduced. The maximum promoter activation area of elongation factor-1 alpha gene comprises 1-1542 sequences.

A transformed insect cell containing human beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase and rat alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase and having an enhanced sugar chain addition function and a production method of glycoproteins from the same transformed insect cells are provided to improve production stability and economic efficiency of useful sugar proteins derived from human by using inexpensive insect cells. The transformed insect cell containing human beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase and rat alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase and having the enhanced sugar chain addition function is produced by transforming an insect cell line Sf9 with a recombinant vector containing the human beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase gene and rat alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase gene. The glycoproteins which are added sialic acid or sialic acid and galactose are produced by culturing the transformed insect cell.

A hr3(homologous region 3) enhancer isolated from Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus K1 is provided to maximize the activity of promoter and produce a large quantity of a recombinant protein by optimizing the location and direction of the enhancer in the expression vector. A hr3 enhancer isolated from Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus K1 has the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1. The mass-production of a recombinant protein is accomplished by locating the hr3 enhancer of SEQ ID NO:1 in a site downstream of the SV40 poly A site in 3' to 5' direction in a protein expression vector.

The Cdna sequence of heat shock protein 70 is denoted by the sequence 2. The amino acid sequence denoted by the sequenc 3 is deduced by cDNA sequence. The maximum promoter activation area of heat shock protein 70 gene comprises 367-1517 sequences.
