    Abstract: A method for selecting oocytes using a chip having an electrode substrate for dielectrophoresis is provided to select healthy oocytes more rapidly and accurately by movement of the oocytes in accordance with intracellular characteristics and treat a large number of the oocytes simultaneously, thereby being used to a field related to in vitro fertilization or blastocyst effectively. A chip for selecting oocytes of a mammal using dielectrophoresis comprises a substrate where at least one pair of electrodes is deposited and is characterized in that a space including an interval between two of the electrodes on the substrate is filled with dielectric medium. A method for selecting the oocytes comprises the steps of: (a) arranging the oocytes at a starting point without applying alternating electric field thereto on the chip; (b) applying alternating electric filed onto the chip for a constant time to force healthy oocytes to be moved to a protrusion of the chip by electrical force including dielectrophoresis, thereby separating the healthy oocytes from unhealthy oocytes; and (c) recovering the healthy oocytes selectively. Further, the electrodes are made of Au or Cr, and the substrate is glass, plastic or PCB(printed circuit board).
