    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a plate optical waveguide is provided to be capable of simplifying manufacturing processes and reducing the light loss of the plate optical waveguide. CONSTITUTION: After forming a lower clad layer(2) on a substrate(1), an optical waveguide(3) is deposited at the upper portion of the lower clad layer, wherein the optical waveguide includes an inorganic-organic hybrid matrix homogeneously doped with photosensitive photochemistry monomers. An exposure process is carried out at the predetermined portion of the optical waveguide for fixing the photochemistry monomers. After removing the unexposed portion of the photochemistry monomers, a heat treatment is carried out at the optical waveguide for hardening the optical waveguide. Then, an upper clad layer(6) is formed at the upper portion of the resultant structure.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: An inorganic-organic copolymer having excellent transparency, heat stability, moisture resistance and mechanical properties by connecting an inorganic network to an organic polymer chain with a coordination bond and process for preparation thereof are provided, which can be used for an antifogging agent, a defoaming agent, a lubricating agent, a coating material, anticorrosive coating, waterproof coating, plastic and metal protecting coating. CONSTITUTION: This inorganic-organic copolymer of formula 1 is prepared by reaction of a polyvinylalcohol-silane coupling agent of formula 2 and an inorganic precursor of the formula 3: Ml(OR4)nR5mXp using an acid or base catalyst at 0 to 90 deg.C for 1 to 5 hr. In formula 1, R1 is H or F; Q is H, F or hydrocarbon containing an aldehyde or ester group; R2 is C1-22 straight or side chained alkyl containing one or more hetero atoms such as oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur or not; M1, M2 have Ti, Zr, Si, Al, W, Ge or Ta as a heavy metal; x, y, z represent x =0.5 to 0.99, y = 0.01 to 0.2, z = 0 to 0.5; the sum of x, y, z satisfies 1 as a mole fraction; a, b, c satisfy the range of 0.001 to 10% of total weight; b and c satisfy 0.1 to 50%, d and e are 2 or 3/2 as a weight %.
