Abstract: The apparatus and method is for expanding porous substance, which enables to prevent the rapid decrease of the pressure of the process tank(23) as brought out at the time of purging and pressurizing and maintain the balance of the process tank(23) by placing a process vapor tank(22) between a process tank(23) and a impregnator(21). When purging and pressurizing for a short period of time, CO2 contained in the process vapor tank(22) is used. The used CO2 is provided gradually by the process tank(23) throughout the entire process and is recovered the pressure of the process vapor tank(22). Therefore, the rapid decrease of the pressure of the process tank is prevented and thus is maintained the balance of the process tank.
