Abstract: Provided is a production method of a membrane-electrode assembly which is capable of improving dispersibility of a hygroscopic inorganic matter on a binder phase of a polymer inside an electrode. The membrane-electrode assembly comprises a first electrode containing an electrode catalyst, a hydrogen ion conductive hydrocarbon binder resin, and a silica precursor dispersed in the binder resin; a second electrode; and an electrolyte membrane inserted between the first and second electrodes. The manufacturing method of the membrane-electrode assembly comprises the steps of converting the silica precursor into polymerized silica by supplying hydrogen ions or hydronium ions, and water to the first electrode of the membrane-electrode assembly and inducing hydrolysis and polymerization of the silica precursor.
