Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising an extract of Rosa rugosa stem and leaves and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition and a functional health food for suppressing, preventing, and alleviating stress-related diseases caused by a lack of sleep which comprises a powder or an extract obtainable by extracting and concentrating Rosa rugosa stem and leaves by using various solvents. The extract of Rosa rugosa stem and leaves according to the present invention is confirmed to have excellent effects for increasing survival rate, reducing drowsing, reducing cortisol content, and protecting nerve cells against sleep deprivation in rats.
