    Abstract: A service recognition method of a router in an IPv6(Internet Protocol version 6) environment is provided to enable a router to recognize a service by using a service ID described in a service header, when control of the service requested by a portable terminal is essential. When an IPv6 packet whose service header contains a service ID is transmitted from a portable terminal(200), the lookup function of a predetermined service cache is conducted by using the service ID as an index key value of the service cache(S210-S212). If service control information and the address of a service server(202) are confirmed through lookup function of the service cache, the service server(202) is changed into a destination address to conduct service control as demanding a service(S213,S214).
