    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for combining power in a communication system and a method thereof are provided to freely change the constitution of a base station while using the same power combiners, and continuously use expensive linear amplifiers. CONSTITUTION: Two-way power combiners(401-406) combine FA(Frequency Assignment) input to a combiner(400). Switches(451-462) switch signals according to the input FA. Power combining distributors(411-413) combine and distribute power if the input FAs are more than three. Linear power amplifiers(421-426) amplify the signals output through the Switches(451-462). Switches(471-476) switch the signals output from the linear power amplifiers(421-426) again. Two-way power combiners(431-433) combine power output from the switches(471-476) if the input FAs are more than three. Signal combiners(481-483) combine power signals output from the switches(471-476) or two-way power combiners(431-433). An antenna(490) sends signals output from the switches(471-476) or two-way power combiners(431-433). An output power monitor(441) monitors the signals output from the signal combiners(481-483). A controller(491) controls the switches(451-462,431-433) and a linear power amplifier(420).
