Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing cancer using MEST is provided to improve the accuracy and reliability of diagnosis for breast cancer and liver cancer. CONSTITUTION: A kit for diagnosing cancer contains an antibody or aptamer which specifically binds to MEST(mesoderm specific transcript homolog) protein, a nucleotide sequence encoding the MEST protein, a complementary sequence to the nucleotide, or a fragment of the nucleotide. The cancer is metastatic cancer. The kit is an immunoassay kit. A method for detecting a marker for diagnosing cancer or analyzing cancer prognosis comprises a step of detecting the expression of MEST protein or a nucleotide sequence encoding the protein from a biological sample.

Abstract: 본 발명은 암 진단 또는 예후 분석용 키트에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에서의 MEST는 암에 대한 마커로서의 정확성 및 신뢰도가 크게 개선된 마커이다. 특히, 본 마커는 유방암과 간암에 대한 마커로서의 정확성 및 신뢰도가 우수하다. 본 발명에서의 MEST는 전이암에 대한 마커에 있어서 매우 우수한 정확성과 신뢰도를 나타낸다. 또한, 본 발명은 암 환자의 세포 및 조직에서만 특이적으로 발현이 증가되는 MEST을 이용하여 생물학적 시료(예컨대, 혈액이나 혈청)로부터 매우 특이적으로 암의 조기 진단 및 예후를 판정할 수 있다.
