Abstract: PURPOSE: An establishing method for valve timing of reducing emission of an engine is provided to promote atomization of fuel through rapidly increasing temperature of a combustion chamber while delaying opening time of an intake valve. CONSTITUTION: In a normal operation of an engine, air amount in valve timing is stored while deciding an input time of a cylinder cut mode according to a valve requiring the cylinder cut mode. In case of the valve as a first cycle driving cylinder, a closed timing of an intake valve is delayed while increasing fuel amount. Thus, the valve timing and fuel amount are decided for improving output of an engine for 1.7 times. Otherwise, injection of fuel is cut while delaying opening time of the intake valve and fixing an exhaust valve. In case of the valve as a second cycle driving cylinder, the valve timing and fuel amount are established for improving output of the engine for 2 times. Otherwise, fuel and ignition mode are cut while fixing the intake valve. After establishing the valve timing and the fuel amount, the cylinder cut mode is operated.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A discrimination method is provided to detect the fail state of respective cylinders in an MPI(multi point injection) engine employing a wide range oxygen sensor. CONSTITUTION: Suction air flux, rotational frequency of an engine, crank angular degree and the concentration of oxygen in emissions of a vehicle are detected via an air flux sensor(10), a crank angle sensor(20) and a wide range oxygen sensor(30). An ECU(electronic control unit)(40) of an engine measures the output of the oxygen sensor transmitting an electric signal corresponding to the concentration of oxygen in emissions at respective crank angular degrees detected by the crank angle sensor and calculates an ensemble average during a specific cycle. The ECU controls a fuel spray unit(50) to reduce the supply amount of fuel to a certain cylinder. By detecting the maximum and minimum values of the ensemble average for five cycles of the engine, the reduction ratio of the difference between the maximum and minimum values over 30% is decided. The reduction over 30% represents the failure of the cylinder due to a rich air-fuel ratio. If the reduction ratio is not over 30%, another cylinder has a failure due to lean air-fuel ratio.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A deciding method for an abnormal state of a vehicle is provided to conveniently detect the abnormal cylinder for precisely preventing deterioration of engine output caused by misfires. CONSTITUTION: An extreme value of a cylinder operated by traveling of a vehicle is measured for being established as a first compare value. Then, oxygen amount in an exhaust system is measured. In case of an abnormal state of the cylinder, fuel amount is compensated according to the oxygen amount. By measuring an extreme value of the cylinder for an established time, an average value is established as a second compare value. In case of the difference between first and second established value over an established value, more than two cylinders are decided in the abnormal state. Otherwise, one cylinder is decided to be in the abnormal state. In case of the first compare value over the second compare value, the abnormal state is decided for the cylinder after the abnormal cylinder. Otherwise, the abnormal state is decided for the cylinder before the abnormal cylinder.
