Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to improve a recognition function of a passing expected vehicle among vehicle recognition functions of a forward collision warning system (FCWS) camera. According to the present invention, a method for recognizing a passing vehicle image which recognizes a vehicle which overtakes from an adjacent lane and enters a user lane, and a vehicle which runs in an adjacent lane in parallel comprising: detecting longitudinal movement by selecting a side part of a user vehicle in an image as a resign of interest (ROI); and detecting a traveling vehicle in an adjacent lane. As a result, by detecting a traveling vehicle in an adjacent lane, and detecting a passing vehicle in advance before the back of the vehicle is shown, and warning a driver, a process speed system of a vehicle is improved and driver safety is enhanced.
