    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for controlling a low pressure fuel pump of a GDI engine is provided to control a low pressure pump with an open loop according to the method which is separately set up based on the driving conditions. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a low pressure fuel pump of a GDI engine comprises the following steps. Specific driving conditions which might affect the driving performance are set up(S10). When one of these specific conditions occurs, the low pressure fuel pump is controlled with an open-loop(S30). If the specific conditions do not occur, the low pressure fuel pump is controlled with a closed-loop by the receiving signals from a fuel pressure sensor(S40).
