Abstract: PURPOSE: A PWM controller is provided to realize a protecting function against a short circuit in a signal wire or a power terminal without an separate element, thereby reducing the price of a motor controller and improving reliability. CONSTITUTION: A comparator (400) compares the current value of multiple FETs and FET drivers (500) to a reference value of overcurrent. The reference value of overcurrent is determined based on the FET having the largest capacity. The comparator decides that the FET current value is bigger than the reference value of overcurrent in case both ends (M+, M-) of a motor (M) is circuit-shorted. A MICOM (200) controls a motor, performs a circuit protecting function, and turns off the FET drivers in case the FET current value is bigger than the reference value of overcurrent according to the result of the comparator.
