    Abstract: PURPOSE: A neck injury preventing device of a headrest for a vehicle is provided to prevent neck injuries of occupants caused by suddenly pulling back heads of occupants by compressing a fluid bag in a seat back with force that upper bodies of occupants press in a rear-end collision, rotating a pinion engaged with a piston rectilinearly moved by actuating fluid discharged from the fluid bag, moving upward and rotating forward a headrest stay, and instantaneously moving forward the headrest. CONSTITUTION: A neck injury preventing device of a headrest(13) for a vehicle is composed of a fluid bag(21) filled with incompressible actuating fluid, supported by a base plate(22) in a seat back, and compressed by force that an occupant presses in a rear-end collision to instantaneously discharge the actuating fluid; a cylinder(24) installed rearward at the left and right of the upper end of the fluid bag and formed with a pressure chamber communicating with the inside of the fluid bag through a nozzle(23); a piston(26) moving rearward in each cylinder by pressure of the actuating fluid instantaneously moved through the nozzle into the pressure chamber; and a pinion(27) engaged with teeth of each piston to rotate when the piston moves rearward and to move upward and rotate forward a headrest stay(14) supported by a hinge unit(16).
