PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective method for a power cable which can surely perform quick detection without accompanying complexity. SOLUTION: A current value ik and a voltage value uk for protecting the power cable 1 are measured. All values within a measuring window are analyzed using an adaptability estimator, and they are converted into an impedance value Z. If the impedance value is not an allowable value, the power cable 1 is cut off. When an alarm signal W is issued, each window is positioned so that the starting point accords with the time of the alarm signal, and/or each measuring window is shortened.

The invention relates to a method for remotely controlling and/or regulating at least one system (1), in particular an industrial plant, using a communication device (2) allocated to the system (1) and at least one receiver (3). According to said method: information relating to the system is transmitted from the communication device (2) to the receiver(s) (3), said information containing a validation code that is generated by the communication device (2); a message is received from the communication device (2); the communication device (2) extracts a verification code and command information from the message in accordance with an extraction rule; the communication device (2) validates the message using the validation code and verification code and the command information is converted by the system (1) only if the validation of the command information has been successful.

The communication device for transmitting signals between the substations control unit (4) and the control units (3) of the bay elements (1) comprises transceiving devices (6, 7) connected to the substation and the bay element control units (3), and a wave guide (5) enclosing and connecting antennas (9) of said transceiving devices. The transceiving devices (6, 7) produce electromagnetic radio frequency airwaves to communicate information between the control units. The wave guide (5) protects the waves against interference (12).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for distributed waveform recording for the purpose of fault monitoring and analysis of fault condition in a power distribution system. The method includes one or more instrument transformers along with merging units and a plurality of Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) distributed in a plurality of hierarchical levels. The distributed waveform recording corresponding to a fault event at different levels in the power distribution system data is carried out by at least two devices participating to detect an event for recording and performing waveform recording, where the data for waveform recording and detection of event are based on a single stream of the sampled measured value data and thereby are time synchronized.

Protection unit (1) for an electrical distribution network has a programmable logic unit (13) for execution of protection functions. The protection unit initiates switching of a primary switch (2) dependent on the processing of values measured by current and voltage meters (3, 4). An Independent claim is made for a method for installation of protection function software in a programmable logic unit of a protection unit which has the following steps: transfer of a hardware design for the communication function over a communications network (5); programming of the PLU according to the description and; execution of the protection function by the programmable logic unit.

A device to be configured (DTBC) has elements that are configured in a specific way. Configuration devices reconfigure the device by using received new configuration information. A configuration server (KS) links via a communications network (NW) to a DTBC and has composing devices for writing new configuration information for the DTBC and devices for fixing an up-to-date configuration. An Independent claim is also included for a method for reconfiguring devices in a network of devices and configuration servers.
