Abstract: Flow rate and density determining sensor has a linear measuring tube (2) that has an inlet opening and an outlet opening at its ends (2A, 2B) and connected with a supporting component (3), where the component is used as an oscillator. Vibrations of the tube are coupled at the vibrations of the oscillator. The supporting component has its center of gravity at an outer side of a longitudinal axis of the tube. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating the above sensor.

Abstract: Method for monitoring a fluid flow within a pipeline (10). A sensor unit (2) for implementation of the method is brought into direct contact with the medium. It comprises one or more nano-components (2N) that are caused to vibrate by the medium resulting in their deformation. The deformation causes a change in their resistance. The properties of their vibration are measured and or the change in their electrical resistance. The measurements are used to determine fluid properties, e.g. mass flow rate, viscosity or density. The invention also relates to a corresponding device.

Abstract: Prior art measuring methods for determining the flow rates and the volume percents of fluids comprising one or more constituents are too inaccurate since the determination of the volume percents and the determination of the flow rates of the constituents are carried out in a manner that is temporally and locally separate from one another. In order to increase the accuracy of measurement, the inventive method provides that at least one electromagnetic signal with a predeterminable frequency is passed through the fluid (30), also in a spatially delayed manner, such that the flow rate, the flow rate profile and the volume percent of one of either constituents (31, 32) can be determined from the Doppler shift between the original and the resulting signal.
