Abstract: The invention relates to a method for fabricating a photoelectrochemical cell (1) which has a photoactive layer (2) which is arranged between a first and a second electrically conductive layer (3, 5), the first electrically conductive layer (3) and the photoactive layer (2) having a diffusion barrier (4) provided between them. To form the photoactive layer (2) and the diffusion barrier, a suspension is prepared, an alcohol being used as the suspension medium for this purpose. This is admixed with a binder and a dispersant, pulverulent titanium dioxide and a titanium alkoxide. The suspension is then applied to the first electrically conductive layer (3), is dried in a humid atmosphere and is then sintered at from 300 to 500 DEG C.
