Abstract: An induction device comprises a core (1) of magnetically permeable material, and is characterized in that the core comprises at least one component (3, 4, 5) comprising finely divided magnetic particles in a matrix of a dielectric material, and the inductance of the device is variable by changing the effective magnetic permeability of the at least one component. This can be achieved by replacing or moving the at least one component, which may be formed by uniting elongate members, some of which have a different magnetic permeability from others.
