    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure and display of a specified intracorporeal region, the movement of an intracorporeal texture, or the bloodstream by providing a Doppler processor for processing a received signal including harmonics of a basic frequency. SOLUTION: A harmonic echo signal is transmitted to a Doppler processor 50 through a bus 90 or a wall filter 52. When a user desires only the processing and display of blood flow information, the wall filter 52 removes a low frequency tissue signal component from the wide band harmonic echo signal. When the user desires the image processing of a moving tissue or both the moving tissue and the bloodstream, the wall filter 52 is bypassed, and a Doppler calculation is performed by a Doppler estimating apparatus 54 by use of the harmonic signal not filtered on the bus 90. Doppler shift characteristic such as frequency (speed), Doppler power (intensity), acceleration or dispersion can be provided by the Doppler processing of the harmonic echo signal.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable tracking of the structure of contracting, slackening and opening or closing motions by a method wherein the edge of a structure in an image to specify the edge to be tracked and traced, and the specified edge is tracked or traced during the sequence of the motion using seed information concerning the specified edge. SOLUTION: The edge of the structure in a gray scale scan line is traced by a motion tracking device 30 to track the motion of blood cells, tissues or the like as a moving structure in the gray scale scan line using a Doppler signal. Firstly, irrelevant virtual images and noises are removed by noise removers 32 and 34 from the gray scale and the Doppler scan line involved. As for the gray scale scan line, the detection of the edge is implemented by an edge detector 36 to specify the position of the edge of the structure along the scan line. In the scan line sequence, the edge containing a specified point by an edge tracking device 38 is traced to learn the speed and the direction of motion at a border point thereby enabling following of the edge.
