Abstract: An airstream solid sorting technology easily and efficiently sorts electric wire and other slender objects from other unslender objects in crushed bulk wastes. A mixture of slender and unslender objects is supplied into an airstream sorting vessel, in which a turbulent stream of gas supplied from below through a meshed screen tilted in its bottom agitates the mixture. Slender objects stalling and falling longitudinally in the direction in which gravity works pass through the meshed screen, thus falling into a slender objects collecting vessel placed below the meshed screen. Unslender objects sliding down along the tilted meshed screen are thus separated.

Abstract: A collection of objects to be sorted, consisting of long objects, e.g. wires, and others, is fed into a funnel-shaped air flow sorting container (1). A turbulent air flow is introduced from below through a mesh filter (2), to cause the objects to float in the container. The filter is positioned at an angle at the container base. The wires etc. drop down due to gravitational forces, and fall through the filter into a collection container (3) below it. The remaining non-wire objects fall along the angled filter, and are sorted and removed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a current selective technology by which needle-like materials such as electric wire found in the crushed products of large industrial wastes are easily fractionated from non-needle-like materials efficiently using the difference in shape of the needle-like materials. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a needle-like material and a non-needle-like material is supplied to a fluid fractionating tank 1, and turbulent air flow is supplied from below through a gradient mesh plate 2 arranged at the bottom to cause a material to be fractionated to flow. In this case, the needle-like material drops due to its gravitational stalling in a longitudinal direction and passes through a mesh plate 2 to be recovered into a needle-like material recovery tank 3 below the mesh plate. The non-needle-like material flows down along the gradient mesh plate for separation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for pneumatic sorting of solid which can sort needle-shaped materials and non-needle-shaped materials in a crushed mixture efficiently and precisely, and an apparatus for the method. SOLUTION: An air current which ascends in a pneumatic sorting column 1 is supplied from the air current supply port 30 of the column 1, a crushed mixture of needle-shaped materials and non-needle-shaped materials is supplied from a supply port 22, and the mixture is fluidized in a fluidizing region 27 between an upper part narrow cylinder 21 and a mesh plate 25. In this region 27, the needle-shaped materials tend to be decelerated to fall with the longitudinal direction directed to the gravity direction so that they pass through the mesh plate 25 to be recovered below the column 1. The crushed mixture which repeats floating and dropping in the fluidizing region 27 is discharged through the discharge opening in the sidewall of the column 1. The lightweight materials in the crushed mixture are floated to the upper part of the column 1 to be discharged.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a novel flocculant not causing a problem such as waste water treatment difficulty and environmental pollution and to produce a solid grain having a hydrophilic group on its surface and capable of easily forming a highly stable oil-in-water emulsion only by adding water. SOLUTION: This hydrophilic solid grain consists of a hot-melt water-soluble solid grain and a surfactant having a hydrophilic group and a hydrophobic group, and the surfactant is bonded to the solid grain through the hydrophobic group. A molten water-insoluble material is granulated in water in the presence of a surfactant to form an oil-in-water emulsion, the emulsion is cooled to convert the molten grain of the water-insoluble material into the solid grain, and the solid grain is separated from water to produce the hydrophilic grain.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To sort and separate the object from waste or various solids equal to it by utilizing the shapes, sizes and density difference, etc., and using air as a selective medium. CONSTITUTION:The solid to be sorted and separated is supplied to a pneumatic separation cylinder 1 successively provided plural cylinders 11-14 having different cross-sections or these cylinders with a truncated corn cylinder 15 in a column form, and also a fixed flow rate of air is supplied from the lower part of the pneumatic separation cylinder. In the pneumatic separation cylinder 1, difference of floatage of various solids by an air current speed varying in accordance with the cross-section and the speed distribution is generated, and the solids are separated based on the difference of the floating positions where these solids occupy in the pneumatic separation cylinder.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently separate dielectric particles by causing specific solid particles to move through a hole into other liquid chamber through the difference of electric forces exerted on solid particles due to differences in dielectric constant thereof in a heterogeneous electric field. CONSTITUTION:Solid particles containing particles to be separated are dispersed into dielectric liquid to be filled or supplied into a liquid chamber 2 or a liquid chamber 3 which are separated from each other by a partition wall 4. A high voltage is applied between electrodes 14 and 15 provided respectively in the chambers 2 and 3, while the chamber 2 communicates with the chamber 3 through a hole 5 provided in the wall 4, whereby a heterogeneous electric field is formed in the dielectric liquid in both the chambers through the hole 5. In the heterogeneous electric field, electric forces exerted on the solid particles differ due to the difference in intrinsic dielectric constant of solid particles, so that a part of the solid particles are transferred to the other liquid chamber through the hole 5 to effect desired separation of solid particles. As a result, dielectric particles can be separated efficiently.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conform even to the elimination of the excessive stagnation of an intermediate suspended material by arranging a plurality of slit plates variably constricting the cross-sectional area of an air sorting duct inclusive of the upper and lower parts of a solid supply port to adjust the buoyancy of a solid to the air sorting duct for the air sorting of the solid in a freely protruding and retreating manner. SOLUTION: An air sorting duck 1 is constituted by successively connecting a plurality of unit ducts 11 having air accelerating slit plates 12 incorporated therein by the flanges 13 provided to both ends of the ducts 11 and a solid supply part 2 is provided to the almost intermediate part of the air sorting duct 1. A falling matter recovery part 4 is provided under an air supply part 3 and a suspended matter recovery part 5 is provided above the air supply part 3. Solid particles are supplied from a hopper 21 while air is sent to air supply ports 31 and 32 but, at this time, by adjusting one or two slit plates 12 positioned below the solid supply port 22, the cross-sectional area of the part below the solid supply port 22 is set so as to obtain an air speed of a degree allowing supplied solid particles to flow. By this constitution, sorting separation operation can be efficiently advanced.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance the recovery efficiency of intermediate floating matter, in an apparatus selecting an objective article from urban waste refuse or the like by utilizing a shape, a size or density difference, by arranging a slide cylinder forming a floating matter recovering opening to a cylinder corresponding to the solid floating position at the intermediate position of an air sorting cylinder. CONSTITUTION: When air is supplied to the lower part of an air sorting cylinder from the blower of an air supply source and a solid to be sorted is gradually allowed to fall into the air sorting cylinder from the hopper connected on the way of the air sorting cylinder, the solid is dispersed in an air stream flowing in from below and the solid large in buoyancy reaches the lower cylinder 33 of an intermediate floating matter recovery cylinder 2 through a truncated cone cylinder 16. At the time of the recovery of intermediate floating matter, the slide cylinder 35 in the intermediate floating matter recovery cylinder 2 is moved upwardly to form a large opening with respect to the lower cylinder 33. By this constitution, the velocity of the air stream in a recovery cylinder 40 is lowered and the stagnated intermediate floating matter is stalled to be rapidly led out of an intermediate floating matter lead-out cylinder 41 to be recovered.
