Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a photochromic composition having excellent light durability, coloring by ultraviolet light, decoloring by irradiation with visible light ray, by including a specific spirobenzopyran compound in a specific (modified) gamma- cyclodextrin. CONSTITUTION:A spirobenzopyran compound shown by formula I (R1 is H, halogen, methyl or methoxy; R2 is nitro or halogen) is included in (B) a (modified) gamma-cyclodextrin shown by formula II (R1 is H, methyl or naphthyl group- containing residue; R2 and R3 are H or methyl; n is 8) to give the aimed photochromic composition.
