Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel compound which is useful for a liquid crystal polymer bearing a perfluoro pyrrolidine structure which can be expected to show a good orientation. SOLUTION: This novel compund is represented by formula I(R is H, methyl; Y is an alkylene; n is 1 or 2), typically 4'-[4-(6-acryloyloxyhexyloxy)benzoyloxy] 4-biphenilyl perfluoro-2-pyrrolidinopropionate. The compound of formula I is prepared by reaction of a hydroquinone or biphenyldiol of formula II with a perfluoro(2-pyrrolidinopropionyl fluoride) to form an ester of formula IV, followed by reaction of the product with 4-alkyloxybenzoyl chloride of formula V.

CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [Y1 is amino, acetylamino, OH or H; Y2 is amino, acetylamino, OH, H or (CF2)nX (X is F, Cl or H; (n) is 1-10); Y3 is (CF2)nX or H; at least one of Y2 and Y3 is (CF2)nX], e.g. 8-(perfluoropropyl)adenine. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a purine or adenosine of formula II (Y1' and Y2' are amino, acetylamino, OH or H) with N,O-bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide and then with a di(haloacyl) peroxide of formula III.

CONSTITUTION:A nitrogenous fluorocarbon of the formula (wherein m is 0 or 1; n is 0-10; and R and R are each 1-5C linear perfluoroalkyl, or perfluoro groups which, together with the N atom, form a ring structure) and at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound selected from among tetrafluoroethylene, vinylidene fluoride, vinyl fluoride, chlorotrifluoroethylene and ethylene are used as the constituent monomers. It is desirable that the melt viscosity of this copolymer is about 100000 to about 5000000 P, and that its molecular weight is about 5000 to 150000.

CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula II can be obtained by heating treatment of a perfluoro(dialkylamino-substituted carboxylic acid) of formula I (Rf and Rf are each 1-5C perfluoroalkyl; Rf is 1-3C perfluoroalkylene) in a protonic solvent. It is preferable that water, DMF, or ethylene glycol be used as the protonic solvent in the case a free nitrogen-contg. perfluorocarboxylic acid is used, an acid fluoride used, or an alkali (alkaline earth) metal salt used, as the compound of the formula I, respectively. The reaction is preferably carried out normally at 50-200 deg.C for 1-24hr.

CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R is O, S; Y is C, Ni; Z is H, 1-4C alkyl, trifluoromethyl; X is H, F, Cl; n is 1-10; m is 0,1; m is 1 when Y is C, and m is 0 when Y is N), e.g. 5-(trifluoromethyl)-6-methyluracil. The compound is produced by reacting a di(haloacyl)peroxide of formula II with a pyrimidine compound of formula III preferably in a solvent (e.g. 1,1,2- trichlorotrifluoroethane) at 0-150 deg.C. The peroxide compound and the piperidine compound are used in a molar ratio of 1:0.2-10. The compound of formula I can be readily obtained in a short time and in a high yield without a reaction catalyst and without a specific reaction device.
