    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a readily producible formed product of hydrosodalite having high reactivity with hydrogen chloride gas without collapsing even when brought into contact with a combustion gas at high temperatures and high speeds and to provide a method for producing the formed product of the hydrosodalite. SOLUTION: This formed product of hydrosodalite is produced by adding water to a clay mineral having the plasticity as a raw material, forming the resultant mixture by a means such as compression, extrusion or granulation, then carrying out the drying and baking, providing a raw material formed product, adding caustic soda or sodium carbonate and water to the resultant raw material formed product and conducting heat treatment thereof. The method for producing the formed product of the hydrosodalite is provided. In this case, a mineral consisting essentially of silica or alumina such as a kaolin mineral or smectite is used as the clay mineral having the plasticity. The clay mineral is further mixed with a material selected from quartz sand, fly ash, water glass, a volcanic rock glass, diatomaceous earth, coal ash and aluminum hydroxide to afford the raw material.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase water adsorptivity for high humidity and increase desorptivity of adsorbed water according to decrease in humidity by using serpentine kaolinite and serpentine silica as a humidity controlling material. CONSTITUTION:A salt of strong acid of Al and water are added to serpentine essentially comprising chrysotile and subjected to hydrothermal treatment to obtain solenoidal synthetic kaolinite. The obtd. kaolinite has a small specific surface area as 60m /g so that it has small adsorption and desorption while the relative humidity is low. Further, a strong acid and water are added to serpentine and subjected to hydrothermal treatment to obtain serpentine silica without containing magnesium. The obtd. serpentine silica has a large specific surface area as 102m /g and large adsorption and desorption rate at high humidity. Thereby, the obtd. serpentine kaolinite or serpentine silica acts as a dryer at high humidity and as a humidity controlling material to desorb the water content at low humidity. Moreover, when this material is used for the surface of building material or interior material, humidity in a room can be controlled constant so that the room is made more comfortable and growth of mold or ticks can be suppressed.
