Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an intercalated compd. between crosslinked clay layers having improved function and novel function by controlling the amt. of a precursor of pillar to be added to an intercalated compd. in crosslinked clay and changing an amt. of the pillar for supporting a two-dimensional structure. CONSTITUTION:Intercalated compds. in crosslinked clay having different content of pillar are produced by adjusting the amt. of the pillar by adjusting the amt. of a precursor of the pillar to be added to an intercalated compd. in crosslinked clay. Suitable clay to be used is montmorillonite. The montmorillonite has a crystal structure, wherein an SiO2 tetrahedron, an alumina octahedron and an SiO2 tetrahedron are piled up on each other and bonded covalently by sharing O atom of each tetrahedron and octahedron, forming one crystal layer. The procursor of the pillar comprises a cationic oligomer of aluminum hydroxide produced by adding an alkali such as NaOH or NH4OH to an aq. soln. of Al2(OH)5Cl.2.4H2O powder, or aluminum chloride or aluminium nitrate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:Interlayer cross-linked clay is provided with two dimensional fine pores lightly larger than that of zeolite and has been exemplified for use as catalizer, catalyst carrier, adsorbent and separating member, etc. To establish the method for controlling each layer space and pillar space, as fine pore shape of interlayer cross-linked clay is standardized by layer space and pillar space. CONSTITUTION:This method consists of an addition of pillar precurser into suspended solution of clay coexisted with a water soluble polymer, drying and heating to obtain interlayer cross-linked clay having arbitrary layer space, and is especially specified to produce interlayer cross-linked clay having arbitrary layer distance by controlling quantity of an addition of pillar precurser. By this means, control of layer space is attained within 2.5nm range and the development of new functional performances of interlayer cross-linked clay is expected.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high temp. separation method of carbon dioxide using a ceramic exhibiting surface basicity. SOLUTION: In the separation and the recovery of a specific gaseous component (carbon dioxide) from a high temp. combustion gas discharged as a combustion gas, the high temp. combustion gas is passed through an adsorbent containing the ceramic exhibiting basicity as it is or after setted to a prescribed temp. to adsorb the specific gaseous component on the ceramic and each specific gaseous component is selectively separated and recovered by the difference of the temp. of adsorption and desorption of each specific gaseous component to the ceramic.
