    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a velocity of a flow of a water curtain at the corner part of a base material at a value equal to a velocity of the flow of a water curtain at the side part of the base material without using a high performance pump. SOLUTION: In an underwater welding nozzle, a cylindrical curtain W' is formed of curtain water W injected through an annular water curtain outlet 18 of a nozzle 11 and meanwhile, a cavity part is formed inside the water curtain by shield gas G flowing to the inner side of the water curtain. The tip part of the nozzle is formed in a wedge-form shape having width gradually decreased toward its tip.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device to be suitably used in the quality control of an underwater welded part by recognizing the shape of the back bead of the wet type underwater one-side welding as the three-dimensional image information at the real time with excellent accuracy. SOLUTION: In a back bead monitoring method of the wet type underwater one-side welding, the shape of the back bead on a back side of a joint to be formed in performing the butt, wet type underwater arc welding from one side of two base metals is measured in a non-destructive manner by a measuring system comprising an underwater ultrasonic probe, an ultrasonic flaw detector, a probe driving mechanism, and a signal processing device, and recognized as the three-dimensional image information.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To not only discharge a moisture content remaining in weld torch and a nozzle before underwater welding but also arbitrarily discharge water penetrating in the weld torch and the nozzle under underwater welding. SOLUTION: In this underwater weld nozzle, curtain water W is injected through an annual water curtain outlet 18 arranged at a nozzle 11 mounted on a weld torch 41 to form a cylindrical water curtain W'. Meanwhile, shield gas G is injected through a shield gas passage 29 arranged between the weld torch and the nozzle to form a cavity part S at the inside of the water curtain. In this case, a drain pipe 61 having a check valve 62 is connected to the shield gas passage 29.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the flow rate of the welding groove bottom part of a water curtain the same as that of the upper surface of a base material by providing a projecting part opposing to a welding groove at the tip part of a nozzle, and by providing a slit-shaped water curtain outlet that communicates with the tip part of the nozzle in the circumference of the projecting part. SOLUTION: A tongue-shaped projecting part 23 opposing to a welding groove is provided in front and rear of a nozzle tip 11A. The projecting part 23 has a space 26 for connecting to an ejection part 19 of the nozzle tip, and circumference constitutes a slit-shaped water curtain outlet 18'. Although the shape of the projecting part 23 is preferably an isosceles triangle, it may be a trapezoid. When the tongue-shaped projecting part 23 is retained opposing to the V-type welding groove between two base materials, the jumping distance of a water curtain W' from the water curtain outlet 18' to the valley bottom of the welding groove is nearly the same as that from a water curtain outlet 18 of the nozzle tip 11A to the upper surface of the base material, thus the flow rate of the water curtain W' in the valley bottom of the welding groove is nearly the same that of the water curtain W' in the upper surface of the base material.
