Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-purity kaolinite-like mineral at low temperature in a short time in production by hydrothermal synthesis by blending an aqueous solution of sodium silicate with an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate at a specific pH, subjecting the resulting substance to ion exchange for ammonium ion, burning to give a gel and using the gel as a raw material. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of sodium silicate is uniformly blended with an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate while maintaining at pH 4-12 to give a mixed gel of silica and alumina. Then, the gel, for example, is dispersed into five times as much solution of ammonium nitrate as sodium and Na in the subjected to ion exchange for ammonium ion. Then the gel is burnt at 600 deg.C for 1 hour to remove ammonium subjected to ion exchange. This prepared raw material gel is fed to an autoclave so as to give 5wt.% slurry concentration, subjected to hydrothermal treatment at 220 deg.C for 3 days, cooled, washed with water, filtered and dried to give a kaolinite-like mineral, a reaction product.

CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of sodium silicate is uniformly blended with an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate while maintaining at pH4-12 to give a mixed gel of silica and alumina. The gel is filtered and cleaned to remove by-products such as Na ion and sulfate ion. The gel is processed into 5% gel, fed to an autoclave, subjected to hydrothermal treatment at 220 deg.C for 5 days, cooled, washed with water, filtered and dried to give a kaolinite-like mineral, a reaction product.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-purity kaolinite-like mineral containing neither impurities nor unreacted substances in production by hydrothermal synthesis by blending an aqueous solution of sodium silicate with an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate at a specific pH, subjecting Na ion to ion exchange for proton to give a gel and using the gel as a raw material. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of sodium silicate is uniformly blended with an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate while maintaining at pH 4-12 to give a mixed gel of silica and alumina. Then, Na in the gel is subjected to ion exchange for proton by using a cationic exchanging ion exchange resin containing a sulfonic group or carboxylic group as a functional group. Then, the prepared raw material gel is fed to an autoclave so as to give 5wt.% slurry concentration, subjected to hydrothermal treatment at 220 deg.C for 10 days, cooled, washed with water, filtered and dried to give a kaolinite-like mineral, a reaction product.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a kaolinite having high plasticity and imparted with crystallinity and particle size similar to those of natural clay by adding Li ion to a mixture of amorphous silica and amorphous alumina and subjecting the mixture to hydrothermal synthesis. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing 0.05 to 0.5 mol/1 of Li ion is added to a powdery raw material consisting of a mixture of amorphous silica and amorphous alumina and the obtained mixture is subjected to hydrothermal synthesis in a pressure vessel at 150 to 300 deg.C for 1 to 30 days to obtain an Li-containing kaolinite containing lattice defects in the lamination plane, having mitigated strain between a tetrahedral layer and an octahedral layer similar to a kaolinite having ideal chemical composition and having promoted lamination structure.
