Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a large number of synapse couplings by means of a small degree by recording plural patterns into a unit cell of a 2nd space optical modulation unit and deciding optically the correlation between the recorded contents of the unit cell and an input pattern to control the distribution of transmittance of the space optical modulation element. SOLUTION: A two-dimensional pattern projector 1 projects a reference input pattern light 7 and a recording input pattern light 11. These pattern light 7 and 11 are received by a microlens array 2 and then projected on a 1st space optical modulation element 3 as the reference and recording duplication input pattern light 8 and 12 respectively. The transmittance of every pixel of the element 3 is electronically controlled by an external control device 6. A 2nd space modulation element 4 consists of a unit cell including cells made of an optical isomerization material to show the synapse coupling of every neuron. Then the input pattern light is outputted as a modulation pattern light 10.
