    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and safely produce a product by irradiating ultrasonic wave to a liquid organic compound with an added solid catalyst for promoting carbonization of the organic compound. SOLUTION: A raw material liquid is prepared by adding 0.1-30 pts.wt. solid catalyst for promoting carbonization, such as a transition metal or a transition metal compound to 100 pts.wt. liquid organic compound. An ultrasonic wave having 10-1,000 kHz frequency is irradiated to the raw material liquid in a condition of 10-2,000 W/hr input energy for 1-30 min while bubbling an inert gas such as Ar and keeping the liquid temperature at (-20)-100 deg.C to provide the objective carbon natotube. The solid catalyst for promoting carbonization has 0.1-1,000 μm average particle diameter, and is selected from transition metals such as Al, Ti, V, Cr, Mn and Fe, and transition metal compounds such as ZnCl2 , AlCl3 , NiCl2 and SnCl4 .The liquid organic compound has a ratio H/C of hydrogen atom to carbon atom included in a molecule and regulated so as to be 0.5-2.5, and includes a benzene-based hydrocarbon, a naphthalene-based compound, coal tar, etc.
