Abstract:
An electronic device with a first off-display input region detects a first portion of an input on the input region. In response to the first portion of the input: when the first portion of the input meets first criteria without a characteristic intensity of the first input increasing above a first intensity threshold, the device provides a first output that indicates a current state of a first attribute of the device without altering the first attribute. The device detects a second portion of the input. In response to the second portion of the input: if the second portion of the first input meets second criteria that require the characteristic intensity of the input increases above the first intensity threshold, the device performs a first operation that alters the first attribute of the device; and otherwise, the device forgoes performing the first operation.
Abstract:
An electronic device receives a plurality of requests to generate a plurality of tactile outputs, including two or more overlapping tactile outputs, using the one or more tactile output generators. In response, the device generates and outputs combined tactile outputs. In one of the embodiments, if the plurality of tactile outputs exceeds a threshold number of tactile outputs that is permitted to be mixed together for concurrent output, the device mixes a subset of the plurality of tactile outputs together into a combined tactile output that excludes at least one of the plurality of tactile outputs to produce a combined tactile output that is output via the device's one or more tactile output generators.

Abstract:
An electronic device: displays a home button configuration user interface with a plurality of different tactile output settings for the home button. While displaying the home button configuration user interface, the device detects selection of a respective tactile output setting. In response to detecting a first input of a first type on the home button (while the respective tactile output setting is selected), the device determines whether the respective tactile output setting is a first or a second tactile output setting for the home button. If the respective tactile output setting is the first tactile output setting, the device provides a first tactile output without dismissing the home button configuration user interface. If the respective tactile output setting is the second tactile output setting, the device provides a second tactile output without dismissing the home button configuration user interface.
