    Abstract: A rotary-wing aircraft which is especially suitable for still and video photography from the air. The rotary-wing aircraft comprises at least four rotors, which are disposed on girder elements, wherein the rotors and girder elements are disposed such that a free field of vision is defined along a longitudinal axis of the rotary-wing aircraft at least between two terminal rotors. The girder elements provide a straight-line connection between the rotors on each side of the longitudinal axis. in order to increase the free field of vision, the girder elements are disposed in a V shape symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. This arrangement allows a single optical and/or sensor element to be pivoted from an area above the plane of the rotors, through the plane of the rotors, to an area below the plane of the rotors, and in the reverse direction.

    Abstract: A method is provided for improving the flying characteristics of a multicopter in a failure situation, comprising the provision of a multicopter having at least six rotors each having a defined nominal rotation direction, and the driving of the rotors such that they rotate in accordance with the respective nominal rotation direction thereof, whereas, in the failure situation, at least one of the remaining rotors is driven such that it rotates in the opposite direction to the nominal rotation direction thereof, at least at times. A multicopter having improved flying characteristics in a failure situation is likewise provided, comprising at least six rotors each having a defined nominal rotation direction, and comprising control electronics with a stored control program which, in the failure situation, drives at least one of the remaining rotors such that it rotates in the opposite direction to the nominal rotation direction thereof, at least at times.
