Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of an ESPAR (Electronically Steerable Passive Array Radiator) antenna that can obtain an excellent converged value capable of obtaining an excellent evaluation function value with the smaller number of repetition times than that of a conventional control method when the major beam of an antenna system is directed to a desired wave and the null pattern is directed to an interference wave. SOLUTION: An adaptive control type controller 20 sequentially perturbs the reactance of each of variable reactance elements 12-1 to 12-6 by a prescribed difference width, calculates a prescribed evaluation function value for each reactance value, and controls to decrease the difference width ΔX and a step width μ depending on an SINR (signal to interference noise power ratio) calculated from the evaluation function value by using a prescribed reduction function indicative of the difference width ΔX when the reactance value of the variable reactance elements 12-1 to 12-6 is repetitively calculated and set in order to direct the major beam of the array antenna system 100 to the direction of the desired wave and the null to the direction of the interference wave so that the evaluation function value is maximized by using the maximum grade method on the basis of the calculated evaluation function value. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna assembly operable at a plurality of frequencies. SOLUTION: The antenna assembly 10 is provided with a conductor 1, a feed part 2, and an AC power supply 3. The conductor 1 is a dipole made of a columnar conductor. The conductor 1 has a length L approximately equal to λ, and a diameter r approximately equal to λ/50, when the wavelength of an electric wave is represented as λ. The feed part 2 is provided at a position separated only by a distance of about L/3 from one end 1A of the conductor 1. The power supply 3 supplies AC voltage to the feed part 2. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To converge the control value of an esper antenna in a shorter time in comparison with a conventional case when directing a main beam toward a desired wave and directing a null toward an interference wave in a control method for the esper antenna. SOLUTION: An adaptive control type controller 20 perturbs the reactance values of respective variable reactance elements 12-1 to 12-6 successively just for a prescribed step width, calculates an evaluation function value for each reactance value, sets the reactance value to a perturbed value when improving the evaluation function value calculated before and after perturbation relatively to each variable reactance value but sets the reactance value to a value before the perturbation when not improving the evaluation function value calculated before and after the perturbation on the other hand, and repeatedly carries out processing for decreasing the step width of next repeating processing to the reactance value of the variable reactance element not improving the evaluation function value into 1/q step width change division coefficient and for inverting the code of the relevant step width.
