Abstract: A process is disclosed for extracting substituted or non-substituted, saturated or unsaturated, preferably C1-C6 dicarboxylic acids from an aqueous solution. The aqueous solution is thoroughly mixed with an extraction agent, the extraction agent charged with dicarboxylic acid is separated from the aqueous solution and dicarboxylic acid is separated from the extraction agent. The extraction agent contains more than 10 wt %, preferably 20 to 60 wt %, of one or several amines.
