Abstract:
WHERE R1 is methyl and R2 is hydrogen, C1 18 alkyl, C5 10 cycloalkyl or aryl, are reacted at temperatures of between 50*C and 150*C. The process is particularly suitable for the manufacture of surface coatings. Manufacture of polymeric products. Mixtures of (I) at least one compound containing at least two aziridine groupings per molecule and (II) at least one compound containing at least one ester grouping of the general formula:
Abstract:
COATING MATERIAL FOR THE PRODUCTION OF COATING ON METAL SUBSTRATES BY ELECTRODEPOSITION. THESE COATING MATERAILS CONTAIN, AS BINDER DISSOLVED OR DISPERSED IN WATER, A MIXTURE OF A CONVENTIONAL PHENOL RESIN, AND A COPOLYMER (PARTLY IN THE FROM OF A SALT) WHICH CONTAINS UNITS OF AN ACRYLIC OR METRHACRYLIC ESTER, AT LEAST ONE COPOLYMERIZABLE A,B-OLEFINICALLY UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACID HAVING THREE TO FIVE CARBON ATOMS, ACRYLAMIDE OR METHACRYLAMIDE OR THEIR METHYLOATION PRODUCTS (WHICH MAY BE ETHERIFIED) AND AT LEAST ONE OIL CONTAINING AN OLEFINICALLY UNSATURATED FATTY ACID. THE COATING MATERIALS ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION ARE SUITABLE FOR COATING METAL ARTICLES, PARTICULARLY FOR PRIMING AUTOMOBILE BODIES.
Abstract:
A thixotropic polyester resin composition comprises (1) at least one resinous ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable polyester, (2) at least one liquid monomeric ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable compound and (3) at least one substance which imparts thixotropy, wherein at least one substance (3) is a polyurethane free or substantially free from ethylenically unsaturated groups, radicals of fatty acids having more than nine carbon atoms, radicals of adducts of such fatty acids, isocyanate groups and containing reacting like isocyanate groups, said polyurethane containing connected by urethane bonds, radicals of at least one dibasic carbamic acid and radicals of at least one dihydric hydroxyl compound, and said polyurethane when mixed with components (1) and (2) gives a homogeneous and clear solution or a pseudo solution. The polyurethane may additionally contain radicals of at least one monobasic, tribasic and/or higher basic carbamic acid and/or radicals of at least one monohydric, trihydric and/or higher hydric hydroxyl compound. The polyurethane preferably has a mean molecular weight of 500 to 3000 and contains on average two to eight urethane groups per molecule. In addition to the polyurethane, a normal thixotropic substance may be added. In the examples a polyester formed from maleic and phthalic anhydrides and propanediol-1,2 is mixed with styrene and a finely-ground polyurethane obtained from toluylene-2,4-diisocyanate, toluylene - 2,6 - diisocyanate, hexanediol-1,6 and 2-ethyl hexanol and the mixture is polymerized using cyclohexanone peroxide and cobalt naphthenate.
