Graft polymer comprising (A) a polymeric graft skeleton, with no monoethylenic unsaturated units and (B) polymer sidechains formed by polymerisation of a cyclic N-vinylamide of general formula I, where R = C1-C5 alkyl and R = H or C1-C4 alkyl, wherein the proportion of the sidechains (B) comprises >/= 60 wt. % of the total polymer.
