Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing impact-resistant modified styrene polymers, wherein said method comprises the anionic polymerisation of styrene in the presence of a rubber in one or more serially-mounted polymerisation reactors. The rubber is produced in the shape of a solution during a process carried out immediately upstream. The rubber solvent, which has a boiling point lower than that of the styrene or ethyl benzene, is removed by distillation with vaporisation cooling from at least one of said polymerisation reactors using the heat generated during the polymerisation process, and is further fed back to the rubber production step.

Abstract: A process for the catalytic-oxidising dehydrogenation of alkyl aromatics or paraffin hydrocarbons to the corresponding alkenyl aromatics or olefines by means of a redox catalyst (oxygen transmitter), in which in a first reaction stage the alkyl aromatic or paraffin hydrocarbon (educt) is dehydrogenated with a catalyst composed of a reducible metal oxide and chrominum oxide in the absence of molecular oxygen and the catalyst is reduced, and in a second stage the reduced catalyst is reoxidised with an oxidising agent.

Abstract: Proposed is a method of producing catalysts containing iron, potassium and cerium from spent catalysts of this type used in the dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons (i.e. a regeneration method). The method calls for the spent catalyst to be ground and optionally cleaned, and the original catalytic action to be produced again by adjustment of the composition and restoring the external form, an effective quantity of potassium being added to the ground material together with a quantity of cerium such that the total amount of cerium is greater than that originally present.

Abstract: Regenerative process for prodn. of olefinically unsatd. cpds. by an alternating and cyclically repeated oxidn. of selectively oxidisable hydrocarbons at a temp. Treact using an oxygen transfer catalyst (I) in the absence of molecular oxygen, with regeneration of the spent (I) with a gaseous molecular oxidising agent (II), whereby (i) before introducing the (II), the spent (reduced) catalyst (I) is cooled to a temp. Tregen which is also below the reaction temp. Treact whilst still in the presence of the reaction having a reducing action or under an inert gas; (ii) regeneration is carried out at the temp. Tregen by beginning the introduction of the (II) and continuing the addn. such that the highest temp. achieved during the regeneration remains lower than the reaction initiation temp. Treact.0 for the subsequent oxidn./dehydrogenation reaction; and (iii) after removing the oxidising medium, the regenerated catalyst is heated to the reaction initiation temp. Treact and only then is the oxidisable hydrocarbon starting material introduced. The catalyst is pref. at least one reducible metal oxide chosen from oxides of Bi, V, Ce, Fe, In, Ag, Cu, Co, Mn, Pb, Sn, Mo, W, As and/or Sb, opt. mounted on a carrier such as a transition metal oxide, esp. TiO2 or Cr2O3.
