Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform preparation of C12 with improved yield at empty time by using a catalyst contg. at least one bismuth oxide compd. wherein active phase has a function of oxygen storage. SOLUTION: In this catalyst being suitable for preparation of chlorine or preparation of barium bismuth oxide compd., at least one bismuth oxide compd. wherein bismuth exists at least under partial oxidation state +5 is incorporated in the active phase of the catalyst and in addition, at least one basic metal ingredient for stabilizing the oxidation state +5 is incorporated in this bismuth oxide compd. The amt. of Bi+5 is 5-90wt.%, pref. about 20-80wt.% to the whole bismuth content. In addition, to stabilizing the high oxidation state +5, weak basic environment is provided and for this, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals and rare earth metals are used and Li, Na, K, Sr, Ba, Cs, Y and La are pref. used.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely obtain the subject compound, by adding a hydroxyl group- containing compound to an alkyne, etc., in the presence of a roentgenamorph zinc silicate catalyst, etc. SOLUTION: A compound of the formula R OH (R is H, an aliphatic or alicyclic group) is added to an acetylene or allene of formula I or formula II (R is H, an aliphatic or alicyclic group) in a gas phase by using a catalyst containing a zinc silicate as an active ingredient obtained by precipitation from an aqueous solution comprising a soluble silicon compound and zinc compound to give the objective compound of formula III or formula IV ((m) is 0 or 1). The zinc silicate is X-ray amorphous zinc silicate of the formula Zna Sic Oa+2c-0.5e (OH)e .fH2 O ((e) is a value from 0 to 2a+2c; a/c is 1-3.5 and f/a is 0 to 200) and/or a crystal zinc silicate having a hemimorphite structure of the formula Zn4 Si2 O7 ) (OH)2 .H2 O. Zinc exists in a deficient amount or an excessive amount of 25% in terms of stoichiometric composition.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain azo(oxy)benzene useful as an intermediate for chemical industry, etc., in high efficiency by the reduction coupling of nitrobenzene in vapor phase at a high temperature using heterogeneous catalytic action of a specific redox catalyst having reduced or partially reduced form. SOLUTION: Azobenzene and azoxybenzene are produced by the reduction coupling of nitrobenzene in vapor phase at a high temperature using heterogeneous catalytic action of a specific redox catalyst having reduced or partially reduced form. The reducing catalyst contains one or more active metals such as Bi, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Pb, Mo, Ce, U, Sn, Sb, Cu, La, W, Nb, Pd, Pt, Ni and In. Nitrobenzene is passed on the redox catalyst together with one or more kinds of gaseous reducing agents free from hydrogen for the deoxidization of nitrobenzene. The average oxidized state of the active metal of the redox catalyst is lower than the maximum oxidized state stable under each reaction condition by >=0.5 before introducing nitrobenzene together with the reducing agent.

This catalyst is prepd. using inorganic metal powder and/or an active component, together with a specified polymer (mixt.) and a dispersant.
