Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a colorless and colorless cosmetic or medical composition easy to handle, containing (meth)acrylic ester (co)polymer(s) under specific conditions. SOLUTION: This cosmetic or medical composition contains at least one kind of polymer >=-35 deg.C in glass transition temperature containing =20wt.% of a (meth)acrylic ester and prepared by free radical emulsion polymerization or suspension polymerization in the presence of a chain transfer reagent, or copolymer(s) with a free radical- copolymerizable monomer. It is preferable that the (co)polymer is made from 40-100wt.% of a 1-30C (meth)acrylic ester, 0-30wt.% of a free radical- copolymerizable water-soluble monomer, 0-40wt.% of free radical- copolymerizable (meth)acrylamide, and 0-30wt.% of another free radical- polymerizable monomer. This composition can be used as a sunscreening preparation, cosmetic for caring for the body, face and hands or preparation for repelling insects, in the form of cream, lotion, milk, oil or gel.

Abstract:
A pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition (I) is claimed which contains ≥ 1 polymer or copolymer obtained by radical emulsion or suspension polymerisation in the presence of ≥ 1 chain transfer reagent and has a glass transition point > -35 degrees C, a volatile organic content of ≤ 0.5 wt.%, and is formed from > 20 wt.% (meth)acrylate ester.
Abstract:
Polymers (I), used in hair styling agents, are prepd. by radical-initiated copolymerisation of: (A) 5-50 wt.% (quat.) 1-vinyl imidazole; (B) 20-80 wt.% N-vinyl caprolactam; (C) 10-60 wt.% N-vinyl pyrrolidone; and (D) 0-30 wt.% additional radical copolymerisable monomer which forms a homopolymer with a Tg > 20 degrees C, with the proviso that the polymer is quaternised if (A) is 1-vinyl imidazole. Cosmetic hair and skin formulations contg. (I) as active ingredients are also claimed. Pref. (A) is 3-methyl-1-vinyl imidazolinium chloride or -methyl sulphate, or 3-ethyl-1-vinyl imidazolinium methyl sulphate. (D) is tert.-butyl acrylate. (I) is prepd. by copolymerisation of a mixt. comprising 10-30 wt.% 1-vinyl imidazole quaternised with di(m)ethyl sulphate as component (A), 40-60 wt.% (B), and 30-50 wt.% (C).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a continuous method for producing slightly gelified diene rubber, through anionic polymerisation or copolymerisation of a diene and, optionally, of a vinyl aromatic compound, in a tubular reactor. The method is characterised in that the reaction is performed at a pressure greater than the atmospheric pressure, in a hydraulically filled closed loop reactor (recirculation reactor) composed of tubular reactor members, and in that the method parameters are selected so that the concentration in diene monomers in the reaction mixture in a spatial medium is lower than 10 % wt.
Abstract:
A method for the anionic polymerisation of dienes or the copolymerisation of dienes and aromatic vinyl monomers in an aromatic vinyl monomer (mixture) to form polydiene (mixed) homo- or copolymers (P) comprises carrying out (co)polymerisation in the presence of an alkyl or aryl polyvalent metal compound without the addition of a Lewis base. Also claimed are (i) solutions of (P) in aromatic vinyl monomers or monomer mixtures prepared by this method and (ii) a process for the continuous preparation of impact-modified thermoplastic moulding materials containing a soft diene polymer phase dispersed in a hard aromatic vinyl matrix.
Abstract:
The production of water-insoluble polymers (I) comprises the radical polymerisation of ethylenically unsaturated monomers (II) in an aqueous gel phase with a viscosity of at least 800 mPa.s, in which the gel-former (III) has an average molecular weight of more than 20,000. Also claimed are polymer dispersions obtained by the above process.
Abstract:
The invention concerns water-soluble copolymers obtained by the radically initiated solution polymerization of: a) between 10 and 99.5 wt % of at least one vinylimidazole of formula (I), in which R , R and R are identical or different and stand for H, C1 to C4 alkyl, monomers of formula (II), in which R and R are identical or different and stand for H, C1 to C4 alkyl or form with one another a ring of between 3 and 5 methylene groups, N-vinyloxazolidone, N-vinyltriazole, 4-vinylpyridine-N-oxide or mixtures of said monomers; b) between 0 and 89.5 wt% of other copolymerizable monoethylenically unsaturated monomers; and c) between 0.5 and 30 wt% of at least one monomer acting as cross-linking agent with at least two ethylenically unsaturated non-conjugated double bonds. The polymerization is carried out in water and/or polar organic solvents in the presence of polymerization control agents, between 0.1 and 5 parts by weight of polymerization control agents being used per 1 part by weight of cross-linking agent. The invention also concerns a process for preparing said copolymers by radically initiated solution polymerization of the monomers in the presence of polymerization control agents, and the use of the copolymers as additives for washing products.
