The invention relates to complex mixtures of semi-esters from polybasic organic acids and long-chain alkanols, alkoxyalkanols and diols, especially viscous oils stemming from oxosynthesis. The invention further relates to the production and the use thereof as inexpensive, highly effective emulsifiers, and especially as processing agents in leather manufacture.

A dispersion or solution of a crosslinkable polymer (A) containing a crosslinker (B) which undergoes a cyclo-addition reaction with (A) during crosslinking. Independent claims are also included for (i) a method for the production of coatings by applying a dispersion or solution as described above to a substrate and then drying the coating; (ii) an alternative method involving the separate application of (a) a dispersion or solution of (A) and (b) the crosslinker (B), followed by drying; (iii) substrates coated with the dispersion or solution.
