    Abstract: A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF FLEXIBLE POLYURETHANE FOAMS EMPLOYING POLYESTER-POLYETHER POLYOL MIXTURES of the Invention The invention concerns a process for the preparation of flexible polyurethane foams having good hydrolytic stability, improved damping, with equal or higher levels of other physical properties and with a high absorption capacity. The foams are prepared by reacting organic polyisocyanates and mixtures of (a) liquid polyester polyols, which are produced by the polycondensation of organic dicarboxcylic acid and a polyol mixture which contains 1,4-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, and at least one triol, and (b) di- to tetra-functional polyether polyols having molecular weights of 1500 to 6000 in the presence of catalysts and blowing agents as well as optionally chain extenders, auxiliaries, and additives.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a process for the manufacture of flexible polyurethane foams by reaction of a mixture consisting of diphenylmethane diisocyanates and polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyantes having a functionality greater than 2 containing 55 to 85 percent by weight diphenylmethane diisocyanate based on the total weight of the isocyanate mixture with polyester polyols or mixtures of polyester polyols and polyether polyols having a polyester polyol content of more than 60 percent by weight based on the weight of the polyol mixture, and optionally chain extenders, auxiliaries, and additives, in the presence of catalysts and, in particular, water as a blowing agent. The special selection of starting compounds results in the production of flexible polyurethane foams having a high resistance to hydrolysis, high load-bearing capacity, and high energy absorption upon impact.

    Abstract: Mixtures of monoesters of di- or tri-basic carboxylic acids with OH group free 18-45 C ethers and esters and optionally alkanols and alkanediols contain up to 85 wt.% OR groups, up to 16 wt.% CO2R groups and up to 45 % OH-free ether and ester groups (w.r.t. to the total weight of OH-free ether, OH-free ester, alkanols, alkanediols, OR and CO2R groups). Mixtures of monoesters of di- or tri-basic carboxylic acids of formula (MOOC)a-R -COOR (1) and ((MOOC)a-R1-COO)2R (2) with OH group free 18-45 C ethers and esters and optionally alkanols of formula R OH and alkanediols of formula R (OH)2 contain up to 85 wt.% -OR groups, up to 16 wt.% (-O)2R groups and up to 45% OH-free ether and ester groups (w.r.t.to the total weight of OH-free ether, OH-free ester, alkanols, alkanediols, OR and CO2R groups). a = 1 or 2; M = H or a metal equivalent; R = 2-6C divalent or trivalent, saturated or mono- or bi-unsaturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic, optionally substituted by a sulfonic acid group or is a di- or trivalent 6C aromatic hydrocarbon; R = branched optionally 9-51C alkyl, optionally substituted by alkoxy, alkylcarbonyloxy or alkoxycarbonyl; R = 10-30C alkanediyl. Independent claims are included for: (i) a process for the production of a mixture of monoesters of formula (1) and (2) by reaction of an internal anhydride of di- or tri-basic carboxylic acids with alkanols of average and/or greater chain length whereby (A) internal anhydrides of formula (3) and a mixture of alcohols of formula R OH, alkanediols of formula (HO)2R and OH group free 18-45C ethers and esters and (B) in case where R exhibits a sulfo group, for step (A) an anhydride of formula (3) is added whereby R is at least mono-unsaturated and the resulting mono-ester mixture, optionally after at least partial neutralization of free carboxyl groups with a water soluble sulfite, hydrogensulfite or disulfite by addition of the sulfite and/or hydrogen sulfite to the double bond of R with formation of the desired sulfonic acid; and (ii) a composition containing a mixture of mono-esters and lubricants and/or hydrophobic substances for the greasing and/or hydrophobic treatment of leather.

    Abstract: Latent hardening aqueous polyurethane dispersions contain (1) a disperse phase (P.1) containing (1a) a polyurethane (PUR.1a) containing groups (G-1) imparting dispersibility in water and groups (G-2) with a carbon-carbon (C-C) double bond activated by a carbonyl group bound directly to this or (1b) a mixture of a polyurethane (PUR.1b) containing G-1 groups but not G-2 groups and a compound (I) containing G-2 groups, other than PUR.1a and PUR.1b; and (2) a compound (II) which contains an average of NOTLESS 2 hydrogen (H) atoms as amino function, has a water solubility > 1 g/l (25 degrees C) and has a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 200-1000000. Also claimed are wood, metal, textile, leather or plastics articles bonded, impregnated or coated with the dispersions.
