    Abstract: Emulsion polymers with domains (1) and (2) with glass transition points of -10 to +40 deg C and +50 to 120 deg C respectively, based on acrylic, vinylaromatic (V-Ar) and other monomers, in which (1) and/or (2) contains a nitrogen-containing coupling monomer, (1) contains at least 10 wt.% V-Ar and/or (2) contains at least 15 wt.% V-Ar and/or alkyl methacrylate. Multi-stage emulsion polymers (I) comprising (1) domain(s) with a glass transition point (Tg) of -10 to +40 deg C and (2) domain(s) with a Tg of +50 to 120 deg C in a wt. ratio of (1):(2) = (90:10)-(50:50), in which (1) contains polymerized units of (1a) 5-60 wt.% methyl and/or ethyl methacrylate (MMA/EMA), (1b) 20-80 wt.% 4-12C alkyl acrylate (Alk-A), (1c) up to 50 wt% vinylaromatics (V-Ar), (1d) 0.1-5 wt.% unsaturated carboxylic acid (USAc), (1e) up to 5 wt.% unsaturated amide (USAm) and (1f) up to 10 wt.% other unsaturated monomers (UM) and (2) contains units of (2a) up to 99.9 wt.% MMA and/or EMA, (2b) up to 99.9 wt.% V-Ar and/or 4-12C alkyl methacrylate (Alk-MA), (2c) 0.1-5 wt% USAc, (2d) up to 10 wt.% USAm and (2e) up to 10 wt.% UM.     Abstract: Packaging contact adhesive tapes obtained by production of a polymer dispersion containing a contact adhesive by radical polymerization at 80 deg C of a monomer mixture in the presence of a Redox initiator, where at least 50 wt.% of the oxidation component is in the polymerisation vessel and the reduction component and the bulk of the monomer is added continuously. Process for preparation of an aqueous polymer dispersion by radical polymerization of a monomer mixture containing (wt.%): (a) 4-12C alkyl acrylates (80-99); (b) at least one monomer different from (a) of glass transition temperature of at least 0 deg C selected from: 1-20C alkyl (meth)acrylates, vinyl esters of 1-20C carboxylic acids, vinyl aromatic, ethylenically unsaturated nitriles, vinyl halogenides, vinylidene halogenides, and their mixtures (0-20); (c) at least one ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride (0-10); and (d) at least one different from (a) and (b) ethylenically unsaturated monomers (0-20), in the presence of at least one Redox initiator, including an oxidation component and at least one reduction component, in a polymerization vessel, where most of the monomer undergoing polymerization is added continuously to the polymerization vessel and the maximum polymerization temperature is 80 deg C. Independent claims are included for: (1) a polymer dispersion obtainable by the above process; (2) a contact adhesive containing at least one aqueous polymer dispersion as described above; (3) an adhesive tape or label including a carrier and a coating and at least one contract adhesive.

    Abstract: The invention relates to combinatory methods for producing an array of n aqueous polymer dispersions by emulsion polymerization and for producing an array of m formulations of polymer dispersions, in addition to the arrays themselves. The methods are carried out at n or m spatially separated locations for the n or m formulations. To carry out the emulsion polymerization, monomers, an initiator, a dispersant and optionally additional components are reacted with one another in water, which acts as the reaction medium. To produce the formulations, aqueous polymer dispersions are mixed with other aqueous polymer dispersions and/or additional components. In all methods, each one of the n or m formulations differs from the other formulation in at least one respective parameter, which can influence the characteristics of the polymer dispersions or formulations that are obtained. The advantage of the invention is that said method allows a large number of aqueous polymer dispersions and formulations to be produced and characterized. This accelerates the development of aqueous polymer dispersions and formulations with optimized characteristics.

    Abstract: The use of an aqueous dispersion paint (A) with a pigment content of 40-200 wt.% (based on polymer component) is claimed for coating buildings or parts of buildings, where the polymer component comprises an emulsion copolymer, 0.5-30 wt.% of which is derived from polyoxyalkylene (meth)acrylate monomers (I). (A) include novel paints (A'), containing other specific monomers in addition to (I). The use of an aqueous dispersion paint (A) with a pigment content of 40-200 wt. % (based on polymer component) is claimed for coating buildings or parts of buildings, where the polymer component comprises an emulsion copolymer, 0.5-30 wt.% of which is derived from monomers of formula (I). R1 = H or Me; X = divalent polyoxyalkylene group having 1-50 oxyalkylene units; and R2 = H or 1-20C aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbyl (preferably 1-4C alkyl). An Independent claim is included for a novel aqueous dispersion paint (A') comprising a pigment and an emulsion copolymer, where the pigment content is 40-200 wt.% based on the copolymer content, the copolymer has a glass transition temperature below 30 degrees C and the copolymer comprises (wt.%) (1) 1-8C alkyl (meth)acrylates and/or vinyl aromatic compounds (40-99.5) (2) monomer (I) (0.5-30); and (3) further monomers (0-50).
