Abstract: Nitrocyclohexanones of formula: (I) where r1 is H, or an aliphatic or aromatic residue, R2 is H or a carbalkoxy gp., and R3 and R4 are H or an aliphatic residue, are prepd. by (a) reacting R1-CH=C-R4 (II) with 2 Li circle positive R2-circle negative CH-CO-circle negative-CH-CO-R3 (III) and (B) reacting the reaction mixt. with acid in presence of water at 30 degrees C. (I) are obtd. in high yield and purity by a simple method. Side reactions, e.g. polymerisation and isomerisation, do not occur.
