Abstract: Hydroxylamino-anthraquinones of formula: (in which both X are H, or one is H and the other NHOH) are prepd. by reduction of the corresp. nitro-anthraquinones with hydrazine, in aq. medium at pH 7 or above, or in organic medium with the stoichiometric amt. of hydrazine. The hydroxylamino cpds. are obtd. in pure state, without risk of further reduction to amino cpds. The only by-products are water and nitrogen, so that special processing of the mother-liquor to avoid pollution, is avoided.

Abstract: Anthraquinonoid dyes of the formula where one Y is -NHCO-R or NHCOOR , the other Y is -OH, R is alkyl, phenoxymethyl, -CH=CH2, -CH=CH-C6H5 or optionally substituted phenylamino, R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or phenyl, R is chlorine, bromine, alkyl, cyclohexyl, alkoxy, benzyl, benzyloxy, trifluoromethyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxyalkoxycarbonyl or optionally substituted phenyl or phenoxy, and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and where if n > 1 the substituents can be identical or different. The dyes produce by the process described in DE Patent 1811796 blue or turquoise prints or dyeings on cellulose-polyester blends with very good fastness properties.

Abstract: The novel disperse anthraquinone dyes are of formula (I): (where Y is H, opt. substd. 1-10C alkyl or opt. substd. phenyl; and X is opt. substd. 1-19C alkyl). For dyeing synthetic fibre material, esp. linear polyester material, clear blue shades. In an example 1-amino-4-(2'-butyl)-amino-5-hydroxy-8-nitro-anthraquinone is reacted with 2-ethyl hexanoic acid chloride in o-dichlorobenzene to give 1(2'-ethylhexanoylamino)-4-(2'-butyl)-amino-5-hydroxy-8-nitro-ant- hraquinone.

Abstract: Dyes of the formula in which Y represents -NO2, -NH2, -NHCOR or NHCOOR , R represents optionally substituted C1- to C20-alkyl, phenoxy-C1- to C4-alkyl, -CH=CH2, , phenylamino or phenyl, where the phenoxy and phenyl radicals are optionally substituted; R represents C1- to C20-alkyl, C6- to C10-cycloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl altogether having 3 to 12 C atoms or phenyl; R represents chlorine, bromine, C1- to C8-alkyl, cyclohexyl, C1- to C4-alkoxy, benzyl, benzoyloxy, trifluoromethyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxyalkoxycarbonyl altogether having 4 to 9 C atoms or substituted phenyl or phenoxy, n represents 0, 1, 2 or 3, Hal represents chlorine or bromine and m represents 1 or 2. In the dyeing or printing of cellulose swollen with water-miscible swelling agents or cellulose-containing fibre material, the dyes give blue to greenish-blue dyeings and prints having very good fastnesses.
