    Abstract: Alkanolamine salts of amido acids of the formula I in which the ring denotes a mononuclear aromatic ring or a mono- or bicyclic aliphatic ring system in each case having 5 or 6 C atoms per ring, R denotes an isoalkyl radical having a chain of 6 to 8 C atoms at the longest and a total carbon number of 8 to 12 C atoms and R denotes a radical - alkylene - X, it being possible for the alkylene chain to be straight-chain or branched and to contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms, where X represents OR , O(C2H4O)n-R , O(C3H6O)n-R , NR R , CN, CONH2 or COOR and R denotes hydrogen, C1- to C4-alkyl and n = 1 to 4, the carboxyl and carboxamide group in formula I being bonded to non-olefinic C atoms and being arranged in neighbouring positions, and the use of these salts as corrosion inhibitors in aqueous systems.

    Abstract: New low-foam, microbistatic or microbicidal corrosion inhibitors in aqueous systems for iron, iron-contg. metals, aluminium or aluminium-contg. metals consist of a mixture of (A) at least one alkali, ammonium or 1-4C alkyl- or 2-4C alkylol-substd.ammonium salt of benzoic acid and (B) at least one sulphamoyl alkanoic acid deriv. of the formula (R1)(R2)N-SO2-R3-COOX (I) (where R1 is a 1-18C saturated or 3-18C olefinically or acetylenically unsaturated alkyl group (opt.substd. by methoxy or ethoxy gps.), 5-12C cycloalkyl, phenyl (opt. substd. by 1-3C alkyl, methoxy, ethoxy or halogen) or phenylalkyl with 1-95 (sic) C-atoms per alkyl group and R2 is H or R1, or -N(R1)(R2) is a piperidine, piperazine, pyrrolidine or morpholine ring; R3 is 2-5C alkyl; and X is H, alkali metal, or opt.substd. ammonium); the ratio of component (A) to component (B) being 80:20 to 10:90 w/w. Corrosion inhibitors have increased anticorrosive effect due to synergism for iron andaluminium and their alloys, and are low-foaming. They have an antimicrobial action affording protection to biodegradable substances in aqueous media, but their use does not have an adverse effect on the biological purification of waste waters. The compositions have an effect previously only obtainable with mixtures contg. nitrites.
