Abstract: Pigments are coated with cpds. of formula (I) (in which R is an opt. branched-chain, opt. unsatd. alkyl gp. with (9-25)C atoms.) The amt. of coating material is 0.1-30 (3-15) wt.% of that of the pigment, and R is pref. (15-19)C alkyl, esp. heptadecenyl. The coated pigments have improved dispersibility and are suitable for a wide range of uses, including colouring of paints, printing inks, plastics and leather.

Abstract: 1. A process for the preparation of reaction products of alkanolamines with unsaturated fatty acids of 12 to 30 carbon atoms or fatty acid mixtures of 12 to 30 carbon atoms containing unsaturated constituents by reacting the components at elevated temperature, wherein the fatty acid component and at least one dialkanolamine of 2 or 3 carbon atoms per hydroxyalkyl radical are allowed to act on one another in a molar ratio of 1:1.0 to 1.6 at a temperature of from 110 to 140 degrees C in the absence of solvents, and the reaction is discontinued when the reaction mixture has an acid number of 45 to 75.

The double bond adjacent the ester gp. increases enol ester activation. (I) are as active as tetraacetyl-ethylene diamine and tetraacetyl glycol uril, without the hazard of forming decomposition prods. which could cause water eutrophy. In partic. suitable (I), R1 is Me ; R2 is H or Me ; R3 is H or 1-5C alkyl ; R4 is H, Me or Ph and R3 and R4 together form a 5-6C isocyclic ring. (I) are esp. isopropenyl acetate, cyclopentenyl- and cyclohexenyl acetate. Quantity of (I) can be 1-20 (2-10) wt.% w.r.t. total cleansing or detergent compsn. (I) can be added in bulk or adsorbed on 3-dimensionally crosslinked macromolecular water-insol. inorganic cpds. contg. SiO- and/or AlO- cpds., e.g. zeolites.

Abstract: A process for removing oligomer deposits from dyed and non-dyed textile materials which consist of polyester fibers or of blends of these fibers with other fibers, and from dyeing machinery, by a treatment with an aqueous, alkaline liquor which contains from 0.1 to 10 g/l of a quaternary ammonium compound carrying not less than two C6-C22-alkyl or -alkenyl groups on the quaternary nitrogen, at up to 100 DEG C. The oligomers are hydrolyzed and are removed together with the treatment liquor.

Abstract: Aq. dispersions contg. polyolefin fibrids alone or in admixt with cellulose fibres are prepd. by use as dispersing agents of imidazoline derivs. of formula (a) or their salts (b) (where R' = satd. or unsatd. 7-25C alkyl residue R2=OH, -NH2, (where R4 = H or Me; R5 = Me or Et; n=0-50 & m=0-15). R3 = H, 1-5C alkyl residue or where X = -CH2-, -CHOH-, O or S and y = 1-4; and X = Cl, Br, I or OSO3Me). Prepn. of sheet materials, e.g. papers or felts having H2O-resistant properties. Surfactants previously used in prepn. and dispersion of fibrids caused severe foaming both at the prepn. stage and during subsequent sheet making. Use of the new dispersants prevents the occurrence of foaming at both stages of the process.
