Abstract:
A method for producing radically polymerizable carboxylic acid esters by reacting ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, carboxylic acid anhydri des, or carboxylic acid halogenides (collectively referred to as carboxylic acid components) with a hydroxyl compound comprising at least 60 weight-% C2 - to C4-alkoxy groups (referred to in short as a polyalkoxy compound), chara cterized in that the reaction occurs in the presence of a polymerization inh ibitor and a reducing agent.
Abstract:
Prodn. of modified mineral building materials is effected using an aq. dispersion contg. polymer particles of wt. average dia. 100-300 (pref. 100-200)nm, the polymer being free radically polymerised and being of each of the following 3 types of monomers; (a) up to 5 wt.% (meth)acrylate acid or salts; (b) up to 5 wt.% (meth)acrylamide; and (c) 90-97.5 wt.% other non-ionic, ethylenically unsaturated monomers, pref. styrene and/or butadiene. The dispersions are claimed, as are powders obtd. by spray drying of the dispersions.
