Abstract:
A process for preparing a polymer powder by evaporating the volatile constituents from an aqueous dispersion of a film-forming polymer P, wherein prior to the evaporation of the volatile constituents the aqueous polymer dispersion still comprises drying assistants T, present in an amount of from 0.1 to 80% by weight, based on the polymer P of the dispersion, and there being used as drying assistant T polyvinylformamide. The polyvinylformamide used preferably has a K value (KW), determined by the method of Fikentscher in accordance with DIN 53726, of from 5 to 50.
Abstract:
An aqueous polymer dispersion with a polymerisate in disperse distribution in a radically polymerized form is synthesized from at least one vinyl aromatic monomer A; a doubly conjugated ethylenically unsaturated monomer B; and a monomer C selected from alpha, beta-monoethylenically unsaturated mono- and dicarboxylic acids or their amide or ester derivatives. An aqueous polymer dispersion with a polymerisate in disperse distribution in a radically polymerized form synthesized from (wt.%): at east one vinyl aromatic monomer (monomer A)(20-65); at least one doubly conjugated ethylenically unsaturated double bonded monomer (monomer B)(30-75); and at least one other monomer (monomer C)(0.5-10) selected from alpha,beta-monoethylenically unsaturated mono- and dicarboxylic acids or their amide or ester derivatives, and their content GA of alkali metal ion, relative to the weight of dispersed polymerisate is ≥ 0.5 wt.% , where the pH of the aqueous dispersion medium is set at a value lower than 6 is new. An Independent claim is included for preparation of the aqueous polymer dispersion by radical emulsion polymerization of the starting monomers A, B, and C in the required ratios for production of the polymer, with setting of the pH of the aqueous dispersion medium at below 6 by addition of a specific amount of aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution.
