Abstract: Processes for stabilising vinylic monomers against uncontrolled polymerisation during preparation, transport and storage by addition of a polymerisation inhibitor are characterised in that the polymerisation inhibitor used is a fullerene, reaction products of a fullerene with a dienophile, or a mixture of fullerenes and/or reaction products of fullerenes with dienophiles, nucleophiles or halogens; surfaces, in particular metal surfaces, can be coated with the fullerene products, in particular by vapour deposition.
