Abstract: Fermentative production of at least one sulfur-containing fine chemical (I) by fermenting a (I)-producing coryneform bacterium (A), concentrating (I) in medium or cells, then isolating it. (A) expresses at least one heterologous nucleotide sequence (II) that encodes a protein (III) with methionine synthase (metF) activity. An Independent claim is also included for preparation of a feed additive (B) that contains L-methionine by culturing/fermenting an L-Met producing microorganisms, removing water from the fermentation broth and optionally also up to 100 % of the biomass, then drying the treated broth to recover (B) in powdered or granular form.

Abstract: The present invention features methods of increasing the production of a fine chemical, e.g., lysine from a microorganism, e.g., Corynebacterium by way of deregulating an enzyme encoding gene, i.e., lactate dehydrogenase. In a preferred embodiment, the invention provides methods of increasing the production of lysine in Corynebacterium glutamicum by way of the expression of lactate dehydrogenase activity. The invention also provides a novel process for the production of lysine by way of regulating carbon flux towards oxaloacetate (OAA). In a preferred embodiment, the invention provides methods for the production of lysine by way of utilizing fructose or sucrose as a carbon source.
