Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pigment compsn. which is suitable for an aq. binder system and has advantageous applicability by coating an org. pigment, suspended in an aq. medium, with a specified resin and a surfactant, isolating the coated pigment, and optionally drying the isolated, coated pigment, followed by mechanical pulverization. SOLUTION: This pigment compsn. is prepd, by coating an org. pigment, suspended in an aq. medium, with a resin having an acid value of not less than 200 and a nonionic surfactant, isolating the coated pigment, and optionally drying the isolated, coated pigment, followed by mechanical pulverization.

The invention relates to metal-free phthalocyanine of the gamma modification, characterised by the X-ray powder diagram (pattern) (CuK alpha ) having the essential glancing angles (Bragg angles) 2 theta [@] 6.8, 7.4, 13.6, 14.9, 15.9, 16.9, 20.5, 22.4, 24.7, 26.2 and 27.8, on its own or as a mixture with other modifications, in the mixtures, the glancing angles may be displaced by +/- 0.2@. The pigments according to the invention are suitable, inter alia, for colouring printing inks, plastics and paints.
Abstract:
Improved lakes based on basic dyes and heteropolyacids (PM, PTM, SM, PSTM and STM) are prepared by a process in which the lakes are heated to 50 DEG -100 DEG C. at pH 2-5 in the presence of (1) primary, secondary or tertiary aliphatic amines, (2) alkylamino-C2-C8-alkanoic acids, (3) diaryl- or triarylamines, (4) acidic or neutral phosphates based on fatty alcohols, their ethylene oxide or propylene oxide/ethylene oxide adducts, polypropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, or propylene oxide/ethylene oxide block copolymers, (5) sulfuric acid half esters of fatty alcohols, of their ethylene oxide adducts or alkylphenol/ethylene oxide adducts, (6) C8-C20-alkanoic acids and alkenoic acids, alkylbenzenesulfonic acids, alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acids or dialkylsulfimides, (7) alkylphenol/ethylene oxide adducts, alkanol/ethylene oxide adducts or alkylamine/ethylene oxide adducts, (8) propylene glycols or propylene oxide/ethylene oxide block copolymers of alkanediols or -polyols or (9) naphthols or alkylphenols. The pigments obtained possess improved tinctorial properties and performance characteristics and are readily dispersible in printing inks. The prints exhibit high gloss and high transparency.

Abstract:
The pigment preparations contain a) a finely divided pigment, b) at least one colourant containing at least one external basic group, c) at least one acidic and/or neutral phosphoric acid ester and d) optionally further assistants which are conventional in preparations of this type. The preparations are used for pigmenting printing inks and surface coatings (paints). The printing inks, pastes and surface coatings prepared using the preparations have significantly better flow properties than the inks and coatings obtained using pigments of the prior art.

Abstract:
Triaminotriarylmethane colorants are obtainable by first reacting an aluminum or iron trihalide complex of a 4,4',4''-trihalotriphenylmethyl halide with a metanilic acid, a sulfanilic acid or a beta -naphthylaminesulfonic acid and then reacting the product with one or more anilines to replace the halogen atoms located in the 4-positions. The compounds according to the invention are very useful as pigments, for example in printing inks, or for toning carbon black.
